NSRA Street Rod Nationals 2015 Coverage
August 10, 2015
We've been attending the NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky for many years. A lot of things have changed during all those years, but it's still a must-go for all street rodders. This year, the event saw 10,000-plus street rods, muscle cars, gassers and more. We saw lots of Coker Tire products on the grounds, and enjoyed the variety of applications. From rough and rowdy rat rods to high end customs, we spotted a bunch of great cars wearing our products. Keep reading to take a look at some of our favorites, and also look forward to a couple more posts with special cars that caught our eye.

[caption id="attachment_6343" align="alignleft" width="720"] Goolsby Customs had a clean and simple '32 Ford roadster on display. It sports a set of Hot Rod Steel wheels and Excelsior Stahl Sport Radial tires. [/caption]
[caption id="attachment_6347" align="alignleft" width="720"] Firestone blackwall tires, including some tall and skinny Dirt Track grooved rears, look right at home on this low slung roadster. The wheels are mid-30s wide-five Ford wheels for a bit of early Dirt Track racing flavor.[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_6346" align="alignleft" width="720"] Tons of louvers and lots of race-inspired details make this '36 Ford roadster a standout wherever it goes. It was on display in the Builder's Showcase, and rolls on Excelsior radials.[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_6348" align="alignleft" width="720"] Whitewalls don't get much wider than this! Johnson's Hot Rod Shop built this pale green roadster, and chose a great combination with Firestone bias ply tires and chrome Hot Rod Steel wheels![/caption]
[caption id="attachment_6350" align="alignleft" width="720"] Thursday was a soggy day at the Nationals, but it didn't keep the diehard rodders from coming out and making the best of the event. The rest of the weekend offered great weather.[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_6352" align="alignleft" width="720"] It's not often we see a fiberglass bodied car given the traditional hot rod treatment, but this heavily chopped three-window coupe is spot on. Check out those 16x4.5 Rocket Igniters and Firestone whitewalls--a perfect fit for this Nailhead-powered highboy.[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_6354" align="alignleft" width="720"] Hilton Hot Rods built this incredible Model A coupe, which was on display in the Rodder's Journal booth. The stance, the chop and the color combination is simply perfect. Firestone Deluxe Champion blackwalls are sized at 450/475-16 front and 750-16 rear.[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_6362" align="alignleft" width="720"] This was the scene at the 2015 NSRA Street Rod Nationals on Friday afternoon. A low slung roadster passes a wicked Chevy II gasser. [/caption]
[caption id="attachment_6353" align="alignleft" width="720"] Thursday didn't offer great roadster weather, and we spotted John Bailey's highboy collecting a few rain drops in its "tub" body.[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_6360" align="alignleft" width="720"] When the NSRA dropped it's pre-48 year restriction, it opened up the door for cars like this Hemi-powered Road Runner, which sports a set of our Firestone Wide Oval redline tires.[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_6359" align="alignleft" width="720"] When it comes to making a statement, this Model A sedan got the job done. With a huge blower, and a chopped and channeled profile, it got a lot of attention. We were also happy to see it sporting a pair of American Classic bias look radials up front.[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_6355" align="alignleft" width="720"] With a subtle color combination, and Firestone blackwall tires, this '34 Ford three-window coupe is an excellent traditional hot rod. [/caption]
