May 17, 2017Mopar followers are a dedicated bunch, and there have been many shows across the country to pay tribute to these iconic cars. Local Mopar guy, Ken Meredith decided to give it a whirl, here in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and he calls the event the "Southeast Moparty Picnic". For the most part, these Mopar-specific events allow any Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth or Desoto to participate. The Southeast Moparty Picnic entered its second year with big plans to make the event bigger and better. And though Mother Nature made it a challenge, the event was a great success. It moved to a larger venue, offering more room to grow at the massive Camp Jordan facility. Ken also planned a Friday night Super Stock Shootout at our local drag strip, but it was rained out. Luckily, the rain didn't hinder folks from joining us here at Coker Tire on Friday for a free tour of the museum and a cookout to kick things off. Check out our photos from the event and be sure to mark your calendars for Mother's Day weekend in

May 13, 2016You won't find a more dedicated group of car guys (and gals) than the Mopar crowd. A good friend, Ken Meredith is one of those guys, and his whole family is fired up about Mopars. That's what led them to create the Southeast Moparty Picnic, an event for Mopar nuts, by Mopar nuts. Unfortunately, the Meredith family suffered two huge losses in the months leading up to the event--first was Rick Meredith in January, and then Kenneth (Ken's father) in April. Despite the tough times, the rest of the Meredith clan and a bunch of friends pulled together to make the event happen. The result? A HUGE gathering of Mopars, from early '60s classics to modern muscle cars and everything in between. We saw Hemi after Hemi, and a whole lineup of drag cars that would make any Mopar guy drool. Local collector, Kayo Erwin brought out a few of his outstanding vintage drag cars, while other Mopar guys put their prized possessions on display as well. We spotted a bunch of rare muscle cars, and even had the chance

April 14, 2015When we started the Chattanooga Cruise In back in 2011, it was a great opportunity to open our doors and show local car folks the cool stuff in and around our facilities here in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It grew quickly, and now the Chattanooga Cruise In is the largest single-day cruise in event in the Southeast. We were absolutely blown away with the turnout at our most recent event, held on April 11th, from 10am to 4pm. Car count and spectator count estimations were tough to calculate because of the massive crowd, but our estimates are 2,000 cruise in cars, and approximately 15,000 spectators throughout the day. It was overwhelming for our staff, but at the end of the day, we knew it was another record-breaking day at our cruise in. Check out some of our favorite photos from the day, and be sure to check out our full gallery of photos on Facebook.

May 23, 2012We love old cars, especially those from the '50s and '60s, when styling efforts were at an all time high. Chrysler led the pack with some of the most interesting designs in the industry, and put the automotive world on its ear when it unveiled the Chrysler 300 in 1955. The new model featured luxurious details inside and out, as well as a powerful Hemi engine. Two years later, the 300

April 23, 2012Last summer we decided to hold a Cruise In event, in conjunction with the Coker Tire Challenge. It was a test to see if this sort of event could be manageable and fun on a small budget. It turned out to be a great event, so we planned for two in 2012, one of which occurred last Saturday, April 21st. It was an incredible turnout of nearly 500 car, with thousands of people roaming the streets of Corkyville!

February 03, 2012We're passionate about cars, motorcycles, and basically anything with a motor, but you'll never find a group of folks more passionate about their cars than the Mopar crowd. These guys and gals are true enthusiasts, and they live by the "Mopar or no car" attitude. The North Georgia Mopar Club is based in the greater Atlanta area, but this visit included folks from other regions as well. We were honored to have them here, and our tour guide extraordinaire Raime gave them the grand tour of our place. Raime showed them Coker Tire, including the Museum, as well as Honest Charley Speed Shop, so these Mopar gurus got to see it all.

July 15, 2011Talk about a great bunch of guys and gals! These folks are on a bit of a road trip and decided to drop by our place for a tour. Raime Brown did her thing, and made sure everyone had a good time and learned a little bit along the tour. We cleared the parking lot and packed the cars in there to grab a quick shot of them in front of the building...turned out pretty cool! Big thanks to the Southern Kentucky Street Rodders for visiting Chattanooga, Tennessee and for coming by our facility. Here are some of our pictures from the visit!

May 31, 2011That's right, we're proud to announce the availability of the new BFGoodrich Radial T/A Spec 245/55R18 Redline from Coker Tire! These tires were originally designed for use on the special edition Hurst Camaro, which is an awesome car built from a collaboration of the biggest names in the automotive aftermarket. Hurst, Detroit Speed and Engineering and BFGoodrich teamed up to build this car, and equipped it with a set of custom redline tires. The tires were such a hit with the public that BFGoodrich made a few extras, and they are now available right here at Coker. May 16, 2011There's something to be said for a historic race track, be it a dirt track, a paved track or a drag strip. Knowing that gear heads just like you were racing on that very surface 50 years ago is an eye opening experience that will put a smile on any car guy's face. With this in mind, folks around the country are flocking to nostalgia drag racing events at historic tracks. One such event and track, is the Paradise Show-N-Go, held at Paradise Drag Strip in Calhoun, Georgia. [caption id="attachment_1395" align="alignleft" width="500" caption="Paradise Drag Strip is known for its uphill burnout box and slightly unlevel starting line, which causes cars with manual transmissions to roll backward at the line. Even with this flaw, it was a state-of-the-art track during the \'60s."][/caption] The track opened in 1961, and it was home to lots of big-name match races and also a home track to many Super Stock racers in the mid-60s. Legends of drag racing, such as "Big Daddy" Don Garlits, Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick and "Dyno Don" Nicholson have raced at Paradise Drag Strip, drawing huge crowds to watch the exciting action. Back then, every driver had a nickname, and every car had a distinct personality, unlike today's professional ranks in NHRA, where each car in its class is identical, aside from a few sponsor decals.

May 11, 2011It's official--we're in full on show season, so we have trucks and trailers, and people running the roads constantly. We have booths set up at nearly 50 events this year, so our guys are super busy with setting up for shows and making sure we have enough product to keep you guys happy! What you may not know is that while our trucks and trailers go to big events, we also hit up a few other shows just for the fun of it. For instance, we dropped in on the NSRA Street Rod Nationals South this past weekend, which is held just up the road in Knoxville, Tennessee. It was a one-day trip, but we saw plenty of Coker Tire supporters in a wide variety of vehicles, from chopped and channeled Model A's rolling on Firestone whitewalls to flawlessly restored Camaros shod with redline tires. We snapped a few pictures along the way, so take a look. We might've grabbed a shot of your car!
