Goodyear Speedway Wide Tread Redline F70-15
The Goodyear Speedway Wide Tread F70-15 red stripe tire is a special tire, designed to fit the classic Chevrolet Corvette. Specifically, this bias ply tire fits 1968 and 1969 Corvette, and it features a special two ply nylon construction, instead of the standard polyglas construction that other Goodyear tires featured during this time frame. The Poly/fiberglass construction didn't prove to be beneficial with the four wheel independent suspension beneath the Corvette, so Goodyear developed this tire without the fiberglass belting. The sidewall markings, .350-inch redline and tread pattern is authentic, and this non-belted tire is a proper fitment for your 68-69 Corvette.
Genuine Redline Tire
This product features a genuine redline sidewall style, sometimes known as a red stripe, due to the thin 3/8-inch strip rubber. This means that the red rubber is added directly to the tire sidewall during initial construction of the carcass, resulting in a truly integrated, high-quality product after vulcanization. Redline tires hit the American automobile market in 1964 with the introduction of the Pontiac GTO and remained a popular muscle car tire until around 1970. Dual redline tires (two red stripes) were an option on Ford Mustangs, and are now reproduced in original bias ply, bias look radial as well as radial construction. Choose the redline that best fits your application.
Bias Ply Construction
Bias ply tire construction is a method that was used from the 1900's through the 1970's on passenger cars and light trucks. Bias ply tires feature ply cords that run at a 45 degree angle to the bead, and overlap in a crisscross pattern, depending on how many ply layers are used. This creates a strong tire, but bias ply tires have a tendency to follow breaks or ruts in the pavement. Bias ply tires are the most authentic choice for classic car restorations and traditional hot rod builds. Coker Tire offers a huge variety of bias ply tires for many applications.
