Raised White Letter Tires
Raised White Letter tires are a staple in the muscle car world, as this was the tire of choice for many iconic cars, such as the Chevelle SS, Ford Mustang, Pontiac GTO, and many Mopar muscle car applications. The raised white letter design came from the racing world, as the painted letters on racing tires gained attention from gear heads around the world. The early muscle car days saw the use of 3/8-inch redline sidewalls, but this transitioned quickly in 1969, when Chevrolet introduced a factory RWL tire option for its performance cars like the Camaro and Corvette. Nearly every other make joined the club, and it created quite the buzz in the car community. The Firestone Wide Oval is one of the most iconic RWL tires and we offer them in authentic bias ply construction as well as modern radial construction. The BFGoodrich Radial T/A RWL tire came along a couple years later and it's still going strong to this day, even after a few tread pattern changes through the years.

The Classic Muscle Car Look
Even though raised white letter tires didn't become a factory option until around 1969, they look great on earlier muscle cars and pony cars, and they even look cool on hot rods and classic trucks into the 1980's and 1990's. This includes sizing like 215/65R15, which was used on 1980's GM G-body cars like the Monte Carlo SS, Buick Grand National and more. Other sizing options include popular fitments, such as F70-14, 215/70R15 and F60-15. Custom sizes include wide tires like the BFGoodrich Radial T/A 275/60R15 and 295/50R15 with the famous tread and raised white letters.
