How much Weight is Required to Balance Coker Tires?

Loading...

Every tire is different, but most of them require weights to ensure proper balance. Most shops balance tires and wheels with a hub-centric attachment, but lug-centric balancing is usually more accurate. When it comes to tires and wheels for classic cars, we like to see 5 ounces of weight or less to achieve proper balance. We always suggest attaching the weights on the back side of the wheel, and we typcially use hammer-on weights, but stick-on weights are ok too. Runout tolerances are also an important part of overall balance and a smooth ride. Anything more than .036-inch of radial or lateral runout is not acceptable. Runout can be affected by the wheel's trueness and roundness. If you experience balance or runout issues during mounting and balancing, please contact your sales representative and he or she help you reach a solution.
