Specialty Wheel
Uh Oh!
It looks like you didn't find what you were looking for.
Maybe give it another go? Using the parts finder, try Year, Make and Model under 'Shop by Vehicle', or if you know your tire size, change the first dropdown to 'Shop Tires by Size'. You can always try entering your tire size in the the Search Bar located at the top, just above the parts finder dropdowns. Most tires can be found on the site searching this way.
Try navigating to the Main Tires Category and use the filters on the lefthand side of the page (Filter By). We recommend starting with selecting your Rim Diameter to narrow the results to what fits your wheel right away. You can choose any of the products attributes to filter as you shop, but generally a good start would be Rim Diameter, then Tire Construction and Sidewall Style.

FAQ for Raised White Letter Tires
Brand Identity & Legacy â–¼
Restorers trust Specialty Wheel because the brand prioritizes original design replication over customization. Their wheels are engineered to match factory dimensions, spoke patterns, and finishes, which helps maintain historical accuracy in restoration projects. This level of detail is especially important for collectors aiming for judged events.
Additionally, Specialty Wheel incorporates modern manufacturing precision while preserving vintage construction methods. This balance ensures reliable performance without compromising authenticity. For many enthusiasts, the brand represents a dependable solution when original wheels are unavailable or no longer structurally sound.
Specialty Wheel is most closely associated with early American vehicles from the 1920s through the 1940s. This includes models that originally used wire wheels or welded spoke designs, such as early Ford applications. These vehicles require wheels that match very specific historical construction styles.
The brand’s offerings align with a time when wheel design was more intricate and structurally different from later stamped steel wheels. As a result, Specialty Wheel plays a key role in preserving the visual identity of these early automotive eras.
Appearance & Styling â–¼
Yes, Specialty Wheel designs differ significantly from modern steel wheels. Early wheels often featured spoke constructions or unique rim shapes that are not found in contemporary designs. These differences are immediately noticeable to experienced enthusiasts.
Modern steel wheels typically have simpler, stamped designs focused on cost and durability. Specialty Wheel products, by contrast, replicate the more intricate and historically accurate designs used in early automotive manufacturing.
Specialty Wheel products are typically offered in finishes that reflect original factory appearances. This often includes painted surfaces in period-correct colors rather than polished or chrome finishes. The goal is to match the look of the original equipment.
These finishes are chosen to complement the overall vehicle restoration, ensuring that the wheels do not appear out of place. This attention to detail helps maintain a consistent and authentic presentation.
Driving Experience, Performance & Construction â–¼
Specialty Wheel products are built using modern manufacturing techniques, which improves their durability compared to original wheels. This makes them suitable for regular driving when properly maintained.
Their construction ensures structural integrity while maintaining historical accuracy. This balance allows enthusiasts to enjoy their vehicles without compromising safety or authenticity.
Vehicle Applications â–¼
Specialty Wheel products are less commonly used on classic trucks from later eras, as those vehicles typically used different wheel designs. However, early trucks from the pre-war period can benefit from these products.
In these cases, the wheels help maintain historical accuracy while providing improved reliability over original components.
Hot rod builders may use Specialty Wheel products when aiming for a traditional or period-correct aesthetic. These wheels can help establish a vintage foundation for the build.
However, many hot rod projects prioritize customization, so usage depends on the builder’s goals. Specialty Wheel is more common in traditional builds than modernized hot rods.
Maintenance & Ownership â–¼
Maintenance for Specialty Wheel products includes regular inspection for structural integrity and proper cleaning to preserve finishes. Ensuring that wheels remain free of corrosion is important for long-term durability.
Proper mounting and balancing also play a role in maintaining performance. Regular checks help prevent issues that could affect ride quality.
Specialty Wheel finishes are designed to replicate original appearances while offering improved durability. With proper care, these finishes can maintain their look over extended periods.
Regular cleaning and protection from environmental factors help preserve the finish. This is especially important for vehicles that are driven regularly.
