Hitting the Road with the 2016 Somernites Power Cruise

September 27, 2016

The Somernites Power Cruise is an annual event, held on the fourth weekend of September. It's part of a great series of monthly cruise in events, held in Somerset, Kentucky. The regular cruise in events are huge and offer lots of great cars and trucks, but the Somernites Power Cruise is a little different! It consists of six starting points, all of which feature approximately 150 miles of driving to culminate at the Somernites Cruise event held in the historic downtown of Somerset! Coker Tire jumped on board with the Somernites gang in 2012, and started the Chattanooga leg of the event. Four years later and we're still enjoying the scenic drive up Highway 27 through at least a dozen small towns along the way. Twists, turns and lots of country living makes the three hour drive very interesting.
This year, the weather was great and we had about 50 cars in our convoy, which included the Snowman's Run group from Georgia. The Snowman's Run featured a Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am, Snowman's big rig, Big and Little Enos'Cadillac convertible and of course, Buford T. Justice's police car! These guys got a lot of attention on the highway, and certainly drew a crowd at the event, which had approximately 1,000 cars and trucks in attendance. We had a blast on Saturday, and enjoyed the relaxed cruise in kickoff party on Friday night. We also joined the crowd on Saturday night as hundreds of hot rods, customs and muscle cars cruise the strip in Somerset. Check out our highlights from the 2016 Somernites Power Cruise and be sure to mark your calendars and join us in 2017!

Chopped, channeled and slammed, this little Chevy pickup is what hot rodding is all about. The Firestone wide whitewall front runners, along with a pair of our Firestone Dragster cheater slicks finish off the truck perfectly. [/caption]

The nightlight on "the strip" in Somerset, Kentucky is one of the coolest of the whole Somernites Power Cruise event. Hot rods, customs, muscle cars and classic trucks fill the streets and parking lots at night![/caption]
