E70-14 Custom Wide Tread RWL Tire
The famous Goodyear Polyglas Custom Wide Tread E70-14 features raised white letters, and the classic Goodyear tread pattern. This tire has authentic features for 1969 through 1970.50 muscle car and pony car fitments, including Chevy Nova, Dodge Dart, Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang. This is what Goodyear classifies as an N/S tire, meaning that the size of the tire is not elevated with white lettering. The N/S design is accurate for cars with build dates on or before 10/31/1969. The bias belted construction features a combination of polyester cord material and fiberglass belts, a combination that Goodyear called the Polyglas.
Genuine Raised White Letter Tire
This is a raised white letter tire, sometimes called RWL for short. Raised white letter tires became common in the late sixties on muscle cars like the Pontiac GTO and high performance pony cars, like the Ford Mustang. Raised white letter tires feature white rubber that is built into the tire's sidewall when the carcass is being assembled. The letters are formed when the tire is vulcanized in a curing mold, and then buffed clean to reveal bright white letters. Look for this classic style from our featured brands like Pro-Trac, Firestone Wide Oval and BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.
Bias Ply Construction
Bias ply tire construction is a method that was used from the 1900's through the 1970's on passenger cars and light trucks. Bias ply tires feature ply cords that run at a 45 degree angle to the bead, and overlap in a crisscross pattern, depending on how many ply layers are used. This creates a strong tire, but bias ply tires have a tendency to follow breaks or ruts in the pavement. Bias ply tires are the most authentic choice for classic car restorations and traditional hot rod builds. Coker Tire offers a huge variety of bias ply tires for many applications.
Goodyear Custom Wide Tread
A reproduction of the factory-installed Goodyear performance tires used on many American muscle cars in the late 1960s and early 1970s. With its bold Raised White Letters and period-correct tread pattern, this bias-ply tire delivers authentic style, stance, and performance for classic car restorations. The Enhanced Sidewall (E/S) design replicates the factory contour for a correct profile and fitment, making it ideal for show cars and concours-level restorations.
