After having our Friday night kickoff party and cookout, we prepared ourselves for a hot rod convoy to Somerset, Kentucky. We had a dozen cars from around the area leave with us from Coker Tire, including a few Coker Tire employees. Leaving from Chattanooga at 8am, fellow enthusiasts joined the line as we motored up Highway 27 toward Kentucky. We'd continue to pick up cars as we made our way to Somerset, with the final count nearing 50 by the time we reached our destination. Upon arrival we were blown away with the size and organization of the Somernites Power Cruise event!

With perfect weather and lots of marketing efforts, the Somernites crew expected a huge crowd and they got it! With more than 1,700 vehicles in attendance, this was one of the biggest they've ever had, and we were glad to be a part of it! Coker Tire Events Director, Jeff Stumb drove his '73 Chevelle SS454, which is a rare four-speed car. Project Editor (aka photographer) Tommy Lee Byrd drove his nostalgia-drag-styled '64 Corvette, while Honest Charley Garage shop guys, Hal Everett and Richard Marter drove the '32 Ford pickup that we affectionately know as GR3. Another Honest Charley Garage participant included Jonathan Myren in his flathead powered '37 Ford sedan. All in all the Coker crew had an awesome time at this event and we took lots of pictures for you to enjoy. Take a look at our favorites and check out the
Coker Tire Facebook Page for even more!

Crowds gathered as the Somernites crew picked a ticket out of the barrel for the Giveaway T-Bucket hot rod! Unfortunately, we didn't bring home a souvenir...aside from a T-Shirt. [/caption]

Coker Tire's photographer and writer, Tommy Lee Byrd piloted his Corvette on the Somernites Power Cruise. This thing has a '70s street racer look, and of course it has Coker tires on it![/caption]
