Every old car has a personality, and the easiest way to change its personality is to swap tires and wheels. Tire size affects the stance, sidewall style defines the era and the whole combination can put your car into a whole new identity. Such is the case with this 1964 Chevelle Malibu four-door sedan. This car has racked up tens of thousands of miles under the ownership of Tommy Lee Byrd, who is our photographer and writer here at Coker Tire. He also has a Youtube Channel called "Hot Rod Hoarder" where he documents old drag cars, historic hot rods and big collections of cars and parts. TLB stepped to the front of the line to try out the new Coker Classic Star Series tires, and volunteered to change his car's look for the sake of advertising the new tire.

As you can see, the car's previous look included black sidewalls, black steel wheels and a set of '69 Chevrolet dog dish caps. The sizing in the blackwall setup is 165R15 and 15x5 OE Steel wheels up front and 235/75R15 on 15x6 OE Steel wheels out back. The stance is lowered "several" inches to achieve the desired stance.

The new tire and wheel combination is a little more subdued and it totally changed the car's stance. TLB went with the same 165R15 and 15x5 combination up front, but stepped down to a 205/75R15 and 15x6 combination on the rear.

Coker Classic Star Series tires are available in a narrow whitewall, which is appropriate for a mid '60s car. The narrow whitewalls and black steel wheels give the car a mild custom look, and Spider Caps finish off the new appearance package.

In preparation for the photo shoot, TLB's children stepped in to get the old paint polished. The fact of the matter is that Carlee (pictured above) will take over the driver's seat of this car in a few short years, so this isn't her first time around the block. The car has been in the family since she was a baby, and was a gift from her Pawpaw...it just so happens that her dear old dad gets to be the caretaker until she's old enough to drive it.

The Coker Classic Star Series tires not only changed the look of the car, but it also offers a smooth ride down the highway. The 480 TreadWear rating should provide a long-lasting tread life, and the T speed rating should come in handy when Carlee gets behind the wheel in a few years. The smaller rear tires leveled out the stance, which continues the mild custom look, and the narrow whitewalls seems to call attention to the side trim on the car.
